SCRIPTURAL PRINCIPLES
Scriptural principles for Christ Life Church Worldwide and each member of the body are:
-
Concept of the Church – a body of Christ… [And He put all things under His feet and gave Him to be head over all things to the Church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all. (Eph. 1:22-23)]
-
Head of foundation – the Lord Jesus Christ… [And He put all things under His feet and gave Him to be head over all things to the Church. (Eph. 1:22); For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. (1 Cor. 3:11)]
-
Believers – disciples, part of the body… [Go therefore and make disciples of all nations… (Matt. 28:19); For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones. (Eph. 5:30)]
-
Authority – the Holy Bible is a sufficient rule of faith and practice… [All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16)]
-
Basic Ministry – meeting needs according to the Holy Bible, and minister with God’s gift (gift-based ministry)… [And He Himself gave some to be Apostles, some Prophets, some Evangelists, and some Pastors and Teachers… (Eph. 4:11)]
-
Great Commission – make disciples (multiplication) through outreach, evangelism, and biblical teachings… [Go therefore and make disciples of all nations… (Matt. 28:19-20)]
-
Purpose of Assembling – to stimulate and encourage the equipping of disciples... [not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. (Heb 10:25)]

THE CHURCH’S BASIC FUNCTIONS

Looking at the Great Commission in Matthews 28:16-20 and at the early church in Acts 2:42-47 (and many other places in scripture), we focus mainly on four basic functions or areas of ministry. These four general areas are listed below:
A. Evangelism, Outreach…
Matt. 28:19; 2 Cor. 5:20; Mark. 16:15
B. Fellowship, Encouraging, Accountability…
Heb. 3:13, 10:24-25; 2Tim. 4:2
C. Praise, Prayer, Worship…
Eph. 5:19-20, 6:18; Psalm 33:1
D. Equipping, Teaching, Bible Study…
Matt. 28:20; 2Tim. 3:14-17; John 14:26
These four areas can be presented by four relationships: between the church and those outside of it, the church and those within it, the church’s relationship toward God, and God’s relationship toward the church. See next…
-
The church reaching out to those outside the church (Evangelism, Missions, outreach, …)
-
The church reaching in to those inside the church (Encouragement, Fellowship, …)
-
The church reaching up by communicating and giving to God (Praise, Prayer, Worship, …)
-
God reaching down by communicating and giving to the church (Teaching, Preaching, Prophecy, the Holy Spirit, …)
